The 2021 Bead Soup Swap & Create Challenge is always so much fun but this year it was much needed as well. I have been experiencing a creative dry spell and just couldn’t get out of it. What better way to refresh than a surprise bead soup sent all the way from Japan from a new bead friend, Ginger.
The goodies she sent me were an amazing mix of greens, pinks, purple, and unique pieces from Japan all packaged in the most delightful box. I was instantly inspired to created garden inspired pieces and ended up with a necklace, bracelet and earring set.
When Ginger and I had first talked she had mentioned she was interested in adding more yellow to her collection so I started by choosing a beautiful ombré sari silk for you soup. All the beads were added around that color palette in a mix of Pearl, stone, vintage glass, Tierracast components, and Druzy to name a few. I can’t wait to see what she has made!
As mentioned above I decided to go with a garden inspired theme and focus on rich pinks and green, a floral toggle clasp, and a few beads and charms I added from my own bead collection including a Grubbi Ceramics quote bead that seemed so fitting. I am very happy with how they came together and I can’t wait to use more of the beads she sent me.
Please make sure to check out all the amazing creations by participating artists too.
